We’ve got Haydays and Epping in the books, the leaves are falling, the days are getting shorter, and Kelekkamessut is right around the corner. All these things can only bring forth one conclusion, winter is coming!

We are hard at work putting together the schedule this coming season and will start to release dates as we get them. In the meantime, we wanted to talk about some of the exciting enhancements for this season.

First up, we have removed the Swedish Cup. The four adult classes (Pro Open, Pro Womens, Pro Lite, and Sport) will now compete in the Swedish Championship, while Junior 14-16 and Junior 12-14 will now compete in the Swedish Youth Championship.

Gold helmets will still have their time to shine in the Youth 200 class and the newly formed Gold Helmet transition class. The Gold Helmet transition class will now allow those experienced 9–11 year olds the opportunity to ride a race sled that is at least one model year old and that its performance limited for their age.

This winter we are aiming to have more exciting racing and a more consistent race schedule during the day. With that, the race format will no longer be dependent on the number of entries in a class. We are shifting the race format to heats, lcq and finals. Each heat will be 50% the length of the finals. For example, the Pro Open finals are ten minutes plus 1 lap, so each of their two rounds of heats will be five minutes plus a lap each.

Points will also be awarded for heats and finals. Heat will be worth 10 points for wins, and finals will be 25 points. Max points for one round of racing will be 45 points. Racers in all classes in allowed to drop there worst round at the end the season. All rounds of racing will be scored equally throughout the season.

New for this winter, the rule of disabling the brake light has been eliminated. With the advancements and knowledge of being able to limit snow dust, we have decided for safety and performance purposes that from now on, brakes lights will work as they were designed.

Also new this winter and long overdue is the exciting introduction of studs for all adult classes this winter. Pro Open, Pro Womens, Pro Lite and Sport will all be allowed to run studs. They will be available for purchase very soon and the rules and template will be available as well. Woody’s is coming on board as the exclusive partner of the Swedish Championship this winter and will be allowing all racers a discount on studs and carbides.

We have the goal of elevating the Swedish Championship and giving all the racers and their sponsors the exposure that they need. With that, our plan is to have Livesports.fi provide live stream at all rounds of racing this season. They have been leading the charge with top quality motorsports live streaming the last few years and will be an asset for us moving forward, helping our racers and partners reach a global audience.

We will have more information regarding this winter’s schedule and an updated rulebook released soon.

We are looking for sponsors and partners for the coming winter to help us put on this exciting season. If you would like to work with us, please reach out to info@swedensnowcross.com

A new website, www.swedensnowcross.com will be live this week for the fans and sponsors to follow all the racing action. But skotercross.se will remain the home for racers info regarding industry news, regulation updates, etc.
